Allowing a time to collaborate and build ICT capacity

Session 1: The blogging adventure begins…

What is a blog?

  • The term ‘blog’ came from ‘weblog’
  • Type of website that is usually arranged in chronological order from the most recent ‘posts’ at the top of the main page to the older entries towards the bottom
  • Can include text, images and/or media objects

Benefits of Educational Blogging

Purposes of a blog @ Apollo

  • Collaborative tool
  • Grade specific
  • Virtual window into the classroom
  • Reflective practice for teachers

How do I create my own blog?

  • Using the Global 2 platform. Global 2 is a secure host site for Victorian teachers and their students. It is an Edublogs campus site, which means these sites are ad free and have other features not available on standard Edublogs blogs.
  • For more information, visit the Global2 website.

What if I already have a blog?

  • We would like you to fill out a Google Form to inform us on what you want to know and what you want to get out of attending the Techie Breakie sessions either this round or next

  1. Hi Techies
Thanks for a great morning – you guys did a great job introducing the idea of blogs. The delicious brekkie was very scrummy Justine!
Looking forward to the next one!

    • Hi Rosie,

Thanks for your comment! We are glad that you enjoyed the session. Thank you for coming along, even though you are a ‘blogging expert’! Sorry about the technical glitch with the iPad, quite ironic really. Hopefully we can set it up for next week.

Looking forward to the croissants! Yummm…

      Amy, Justine and Rachael 🙂
